Green Grass

The Greens are advocating a "grass roots" approach to the Treaty debate which is worth considering so will try and refrain from facetious comments of the "which is surprisingly sensible given its source" type. Oops.

Fitzsimons' emphasis on "a well informed and resourced public discussion" is of concern. Not because this is not a good idea but from the tendency of some to believe that others hold different opinions because they are "ill-informed". It's unlikely that there would be a distinct homogeneity of opinion even if we all new the minutiae of 19th century NZ history.
