Politics and Religion Bush/NZ style

One of the criticisms of Bush that I have some sympathy for is of the influence of Christian groups on his policies.

But now in NZ our Prime Minister has started to give political speeches from cathedrals.

And church leaders are claiming that the Treaty is a "spiritual covenant" between Maori and "our forebears".

Also, our supposedly secular state education system has got into the business of building places for religious worship.

I would have thought that if people critisised Bush for mixing religion and politics then they might be a bit concerned by these developments. But apparently not.
