What is evolution if not politics?

Terry Eagleton in the Guardian:

Why ideas no longer matter: Modern politicians deal only in facts, not philosophical reasoning .

Guess who is not on his list of thinkers? There's Kant, Marx, Freud, Hegel, Nietzsche.

But no Darwin. Its like evolution never happened. Its the idea that science cannot contribute to philosophy even though the most recent discoveries have put an end to such old philosophical conundrums as the mind-body problem. What could be more political than how our minds developed in-order to deal with other members of our species and to cooperate (or not depending)?

Eagleton is of course a professor of "cultural theory".
(His theme is somewhat ironic given that one strand of crticism of Bush and Blair is of their Idealism, that they are not pragmatic enough).
