Sudan has seat on UN Human Rights Commission

From The Guardian an op-ed by Peter Moszynski:

There can be no quick fix in Sudan

So Sudan has a seat on the UN Human Rights Commission. That's just great.

Moszynski argues that President Omar al-Bashir can spin post-Iraq war distrust for the US and Britain to avoid UN intervention. There is possibly some truth in this but I doubt whether those countries who either oppose UN action or are indifferent would require such sentiment to make up their minds. If you are determined to stand aside and let genocide occur any reason will do but adding a smoke screen of anti-Americanism does no harm and will play to elements of the Western Left.
