Juan Cole

Juan Cole, noted pretender to the Throne of Knowing All About Iraq, presents this new and devastating argument against Bush:
...if Mr. Bush abhors dictatorships so much, why hasn't he overthrown that in China? North Korea? Zimbabwe? Or, say, Egypt? There are enormous numbers of dictatorships in the world.
The level of argument that one expects from dippy left activists.

So, according to Cole there is no point in doing anything about Darfur since we are not doing anything about North Korea. And we should not have done anything about Kosovo because we were not doing anything about Darfur.

Let's just all sit around, wear our liberal bleeding hearts on our sleeves and condemn anyone doing anything because they cannot bring Utopia tomorrow. This is the philosophy of moral paralysis advocated by the likes of Fisk and Chomsky.

If you are going to continually change your reason for having instigated such an event as the Iraq war, and often claim that your justification is the nature of the regime, then you do deserve to be critisised for not acting consistenly. You are either being disingenuous or are commenting in a naive way on others supposed naivete.
